Course format

12 modules · beginner level · no coding required. Each module is one live session plus a short hands-on practice task. The first three modules form the shared AI Foundation taken by every Top Universe learner.

Module 1

Introduction to AI

Cut through the hype and understand what AI really is, where it came from, and where it already shows up in your daily life.

You'll cover:

What AI is and the myths about what it is notA quick history: from rule-based systems to today's modelsThe kinds of AI you'll meet: narrow AI, generative AI, and agentsAI you already use: search, maps, bank fraud alerts, social feeds

By the end: Explain in plain language what AI is and recognise it around you.

Module 2

Understanding Generative AI

Learn what makes today's AI able to write, draw, and talk, and just as important, why it sometimes gets things wrong.

You'll cover:

What "generative" means: text, images, audio, and videoHow a language model predicts the next word (the idea, not the maths)What it's brilliant at, and where it falls shortWhy AI "hallucinates" and how to protect yourself

By the end: Understand how generative AI works well enough to use it wisely.

Module 3

ChatGPT & AI Assistants

Get hands-on with the major AI assistants and learn how to set them up and navigate them with confidence.

You'll cover:

A tour of ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot, and what each is good atCreating an account and finding your way aroundChats, conversations, history, and memoryFree vs paid plans: what you actually need to start

By the end: Open and use an AI assistant comfortably for real tasks.

Module 4

Prompt Engineering Basics

The single most useful skill in this course: how to ask AI for things so you get great results instead of generic ones.

You'll cover:

The anatomy of a good prompt: role, task, context, and formatGiving examples and setting clear constraintsRefining and following up instead of starting overCommon mistakes that lead to weak answers

By the end: Write clear prompts that get useful results on the first or second try.

Module 5

AI for Productivity

Turn AI into a personal assistant that handles the repetitive parts of your day.

You'll cover:

Summarising long documents, emails, and reportsDrafting and replying to messages fasterPlanning your day, to-do lists, and meeting notesBrainstorming and thinking through decisions

By the end: Save several hours each week on routine work.

Module 6

AI for Research

Learn to investigate any topic faster while keeping a sharp, critical eye.

You'll cover:

Asking better questions and following the threadGetting explanations at the right level, from "like I'm 10" to expertComparing options and summarising multiple sourcesFact-checking and spotting when the AI is wrong

By the end: Research any topic quickly without losing your judgement.

Module 7

AI for Writing

Produce clear, polished writing for any purpose while keeping it sounding like you.

You'll cover:

Drafting essays, articles, posts, and applicationsEditing for clarity, tone, and grammarAdapting one piece of writing for different audiencesKeeping your own voice and avoiding generic output

By the end: Write well in a fraction of the usual time.

Module 8

AI for Microsoft Office & Google Workspace

Bring AI into the tools you already use every single day.

You'll cover:

Writing and formatting in Word and Google DocsFormulas, clean-up, and summaries in Excel and SheetsDrafting and triaging email in Outlook and GmailUsing Copilot and built-in AI features

By the end: Use AI inside your everyday office tools.

Module 9

AI for Presentations

Go from a rough idea to a clean, presentable slide deck in minutes.

You'll cover:

Turning an outline into a full set of slidesGenerating talking points and speaker notesDesigning simple, clear slides (and what to avoid)Tools: Gamma, Canva, and PowerPoint Copilot

By the end: Build a presentation in minutes instead of hours.

Module 10

AI for Image Generation

Create original images for work, study, and social media just by describing them.

You'll cover:

How image generators turn words into picturesWriting visual prompts: subject, style, lighting, compositionTools: DALL·E, Midjourney, Canva, and Ideogram (for text in images)Ethics: credit, deepfakes, and what not to create

By the end: Generate original, useful images on demand.

Module 11

AI for Video Generation

Explore what AI video can do today and produce a simple clip of your own.

You'll cover:

What's genuinely possible now, and the current limitsText-to-video and image-to-video basicsAdding voiceovers, captions, and avatarsA practical look at today's video tools

By the end: Produce a simple AI-assisted video clip.

Module 12

AI Ethics & Safety

Finish the course knowing how to use AI honestly, safely, and responsibly.

You'll cover:

Privacy: what you should never paste into an AI toolBias and fairness: why AI gets things wrongMisinformation, deepfakes, and verifying what you seeResponsible use at school, at work, and in public

By the end: Use AI safely, ethically, and with confidence.

Capstone project

Build your personal AI toolkit. Pick three real tasks from your life or work, speed them up or automate them with the tools from this course, and share your results with the cohort.
